AHK Portugal with BME as main event partner is organizing Sourcing Tour Portugal, which will take place on-site in Porto from 10th to 13th of February 2025. This event, held on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) as part of the market development program for SMEs, presents an excellent opportunity for German entrepreneurs to explore the rapidly growing Portuguese market and establish valuable business connections in person.

Portugal has now established itself as a strategically important procurement market for German companies. Portuguese exports to Germany have increased by an impressive 62% since the start of the pandemic in 2020. The Savills Nearshoring Index rates Portugal as the world's second most attractive country for nearshoring, based on factors such as political and economic resilience, access to a skilled workforce, comparatively low labor costs and geographical proximity to customer markets. Due to their long-standing focus on exporting to European markets, Portuguese suppliers have already internalized international compliance measures and thus also fundamental aspects of the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive. Portugal therefore offers German companies an ideal procurement market for raw materials, materials, intermediate goods and end products. It is particularly strong in sectors such as mechanical and plant engineering, metalworking and metal processing, technical textiles, raw materials (including cork and natural stone), electronics, microelectronics, plastics, molds, packaging, and rubber, as well as software, ICT, and design services. You can already register on the website or log into your profile and mark your interest in the event. Based on the buyer’s procurement needs filled in the company profile, suppliers can indicate their interest in meeting these companies. Ultimately we arrange B2B meetings with the preferred partners on-site during a two-day long conference with exciting expert speeches and individual B2B matchmaking. Company visits will take place on the following day.

Participation in the search process is free of charge. In accordance with the German government's funding guidelines, buying companies will be charged a small contribution only for taking part in on-site B2B meetings. Travel, accommodation and meals costs are borne by the participants themselves.

To gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities that Portuguese procurement market offers, join a free of charge info webinar for interested purchasing companies that will take place on the 2nd of October 2024,  from 10:30 to 12:00 (CET). During this session, AHK colleagues will provide detailed insights into the market and its purchasing potential. Please register for the free webinar here.
